Olivia's myths

It gives me huge pleasure to be able to offer original work by Olivia Lomenech Gill. She was an inspired choice by Bloomsbury when they commissioned her to illustrate Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. An artist working in traditional media suited the book well – and then they chose her to illustrate Jessie Burton's retelling of the Medusa story. Both books have become international successes.
Many of the originals for Medusa have been sold but I have some treasure here. She went to great lengths to research the characters, and this one is Adriana, Medusa's sister.
Commissioned just when Covid was making life difficult, this piece was her first character study of Medusa herself – and this is the one that confirmed the commission.
This one the storm at sea when Medusa is stranded with her dog, Argentus.
There are many smaller etchings which show some of the world Medusa inhabited with her sisters.
Olivia has a particular appetite for myths and had previously produced a set of etchings on the theme of Norse Myths to illustrate Francesca Simon's book, A Monstrous Child. I have most of them available still as there were multiple copies. Also work from her exhibition associated with English Heritage Priory Museum on Lindisfarne.
Recently interviewed by Jake Hope for Pen&Inc, the magazine produced by CILIP, The Library and Information Association, you can read more about her life and work, her influences and how she approaches a new project (of which there are many).

Neil Packer on design

And another interview. Neil Packer was interviewed by Natasha Poliszczuk on behalf of BookBrunch, the online magazine for people involved with the book trade as he'd designed a new logo for them. He's not quite a god, as this poster of him at a book fair in Guangdong suggests, but his views on graphic design and illustration make an interesting read.
He's produced a great deal of high-profile work over the past year or two - not just Dante and Shakespeare (and Harry Potter) but also his own book, The Parable of the Independent Bakers, published in great style by Camelozampa in Italy, printed in Venice, publicised at many enjoyable events and winning many awards.
Most recently, The Folio Society has enjoyed success with Shakespeare's Complete Plays, illustrated by Neil and sold out in a few days. We sell prints of his images, signed and numbered by Neil. He's now working on Shakespeare's Sonnets for Folio.
He now works digitally but there are some tasty original paintings from the retelling of The Iliad and The Odyssey available here.

Vuur – the dragon

Anyone who's contemplating Myriad Miniatures' exquisite models might like to have an archival print of Ian Miller's painting of Vuur which was the inspiration for this one. We produce beautiful archival prints, signed and numbered by Ian, as you see below.

And finally

Ender's Game by John Harris is the painting sold at Christie's last year for a ridiculous sum. It was a lucky day for the seller who'd bought it from John many decades ago, without any idea that it would become Christie's highest seller of the day.

It also happens to be one of the most popular of John’s signed prints and when we send one to a new buyer we usually receive a rapturous thank you. There are just a few left now . . .
