This is legendary. We're all familiar with Ian's published work in the worlds of games, movies and book publishing. We all know and love his writing, his poetry, his sense of humour and his special take on life. Here though, is something else.
In addition to that huge amount of work, he's produced paintings from the heart, over the years, finding the time in between his official work. Some of them are quite large.
Some are inspired by commissions, some relate to the part of the world he happened to be working in at the time, and in fact many were produced in LA when he was living there in the 70's. Others are simply Ian saying something he wanted to say. So feast your eyes.
He's now decided to look back at this body of work and choose some to put up for sale.
John has worked on the covers of Ben Bova's books in his planets series for Tor Books for as long as we can remember. It's been one of his major projects, and the images make excellent prints.
And now there's a new one. It's Pluto, and we can now offer the original for sale.
And finally
We're very excited about the forthcoming exhibition of illustration produced for The Folio Society which has just opened at the Society of Illustrators in New York. Neil Packer has worked for them for many years, and his image of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre is included in the show. Prints from his Shakespeare work can be seen here.
The Folio Society is unique. They are delightful to work for, and one of the remaining publishers in the UK which will give artists the freedom to interpret the book and produce the illustrations they feel are right for it. As a result, their books win awards time after time. Jim Burns has recently illustrated an important one for them, so watch out for news of that later this year.
