Latest news and Christmas greetings

I am immensely lucky to work with such a fantastic collection of artists. Here is Norse Myths, illustrated by Jeffrey Alan Love and now available in Dutch and Romanian, the CD cover as used by Ben Drew (Plan B) for this year's album showing John Harris's 'Quiet Night' painting.

Paul Cox illustrated Edwin Mullins' 'The Secret of Art' throughout, and Jim Kay's phoenix 'Fawkes' lives on alongside work by Olivia Lomenech Gill at the current exhibition of Harry Potter work at the New York Historical Society. This is the book which accompanies the show..

Gordon Crabb - ever more diverse

Gordon has been a successful book cover illustrator for many years and you can usually count a good handful of his covers in the UK bookshops – but here too is the other side of what he does to keep himself sane.
Arena Illustration in London

There is more though. Luckily for me, I've retained my contact with Arena Illustration and so have continued to work with other artists too. The most recent book illustrated by Levi Pinfold, 'The Dam' is a very moving story about the effects of the flooding of a valley in Northumbria  in order to build a water supply for the northern cities. There's a film about Levi here which covers this and other work too.
I'm also thrilled to continue to work for Neal Layton whose recent children's books include a classic Emily Brown story written by Cressida Cowell. The Emily Brown play (produced by Tall Stories) was shown in Sydney Opera House last year, and in Melbourne and Hong Kong in 2018, with a New York tour coming up in January 2019.
Neal's observations on how to reduce our use of plastics will be published in a children's book in 2019. He can explain in such a way that five-year-olds understand, and his series about The Invincible Tony Spears and his exploits in space, for people just learning to read, is an absolute must. More on Neal here.

In other news

Nick Maland is currently showing a selection from twenty years of his children's book illustrations at 'Circus' in London (next to the Conran shop in Marylebone High Street). It's an impressive show, and he also has a new website. His latest book is Mr Tiger, Betsy and Me, written by Sally Gardner.
It's been a busy year and I'm so grateful to all the artists who have worked hard to come up with new ideas and keep on bubbling. Also to the many clients, both in the UK and the US who make it all worthwhile. Thank you to everyone, and a very happy Christmas too.
