Jim Kay, Freeman of London

Jim Kay was granted the Freedom of London at the Guildhall on 20th January. It’s an honour which has also been awarded to Sir Quentin Blake and to J K Rowling and stretches back to medieval times. There was a Q&A session with Jim and Chris Riddell held in the crypt for local school children, a short ceremony at which the Chamberlain of London presented Jim with the framed document,¬†and lunch in the Guildhall dining room with Andrew Buckingham, the press officer who had organised the event, and his colleagues at the City of London. An extraordinary day.
