To celebrate the opening of the House of Illustration in King’s Cross (London) today, Paul Cox (left) was invited to draw the presenters of The Today Programme. They also interviewed Quentin Blake, Paul’s tutor at the RCA and the main person whose energy behind the whole concept of the House of Illustration has brought it to fruition. Other items discussed (and drawn by Paul) included the first night of the “new” Monty Python production – and the dead parrot sketch.
The opening exhibition at the HOI is of Quentin’s work, known so well to so many of us and it is a treat to see. This is the first of the exhibitions directed towards the general public which we hope will bring the whole field of illustration into prominence.
