Bugs and Stars

These two wonderful books, both full of facts for children, have been nominated for the UK School Library Association awards. Congratulations to Jim Kay for Bugs, and for Neal Layton for The Story of Stars. If there are any of you out there who are a bit confused about white dwarves or red giants then this book by Neal is the one for you. What’s more, it tells you about the history of the discovery of the stars and there are some pretty weird ideas going on there.

Bugs was written by George McGavin, Jim Kay’s hero. George managed to come out of the jungle just long enough to turn out some fascinating facts. The paper engineering for both was by Richard Ferguson.
