The Kate Greenaway Medal for Jim Kay

Many thanks to CILIP, the administrators of the Kate Greenaway Medal and the Carnegie Medal, both awarded for A Monster Calls yesterday at The Barbican. The Greenaway for Jim Kay (right), and the Carnegie for Patrick Ness, his second consecutive Carnegie Award.

Young people from all over the UK gathered for the announcement. They had been studying all the books on the very strong shortlist but they, like us, seemed to be delighted with the judges’ choice. Many thanks to Walker Books for producing such a beautiful book, and many congratulations to Jim and Patrick on this historic double.
