John Harris at the London Transport Museum

I’d recommend this Sense and the City exhibition to anyone who’s interested in the city of the future. It is, in fact, much more than that as it covers the past and possible future of communication, transport and city living. One of the illustrations used to describe how we’ve visualised the futuristic city is by John Harris. Originally commissioned to illustrate the book by Richard Engling, Body Mortgage, it shows a Bladerunner kind of city scape – all the more remarkable because it was produced before the film was made.

The original painting is for sale.
