Gordon Crabb

Represented by

Born in Richmond on Thames, Gordon studied at Twickenham College of Art and graduated in Illustration (S.I.A.D.). He was first represented by the agency, Young Artists (now Arena) and has now illustrated over a thousand book covers.

Early in his career he visited New York with his illustration portfolio and as a result has worked for many of the US publishers; firstly Bantam and Dell, but now also for Tor, Penguin, Avon, Pocket Books and Bookspan, mostly on fantasy covers.

In 2004 he started to produce a range of high-quality fine art prints. These represent a move away from his illustration work towards surrealism and portraiture. This new direction offers a freedom of expression inevitably subdued by the restraints and commercial demands of book covers.

In 2005 and 2005 this work was exhibited in Llandeilo and Manchester, and in 2007 it was chosen by Merchant Archive, a lifestyle gallery in London, who have adopted one of the earlier images as their logo.

Gordon has exhibited paintings, drawings, illustrations and prints in London, Cardiff, Manchester, New York, Connecticut, Texas and, of course, his home town of Aberystwyth.
